Angelina Boscarelli – Artistic Director and Show Director.
Angelina is the artistic director of Rogue Theatre. Having founded the company with Ollie Oakenshield in 2004 she has directed and performed in all of Rogue’s Productions and has developed a company with a strong personality and a distinctive style. Angelina loves to leave the path and her strong sense of adventure has led her all around the world, she has lived and worked in Tokyo for a year, has lived in Italy and Spain, and spent almost 5 years living in Greece. She left school and home when she was 15 to do things her way, she trained at The Hub Theatre School (almost entirely by accident), she trained in Comedia Dell’arte under Antonio Fava in Italy and then ran away with the circus. Angelina toured with Turbozone International Circus Company for 2 years as an Ugly Sister in their version of Cinderella. Her role in Cinderalla gave her her favourite review to date “It was worth the tenner alone for Angelina Boscarelli’s Ugly Sister, never has a face and backside been so easily interchangeable” (4 star review, The Guardian, Edinburgh Fringe Festival). Turbozone toured all around the world, the highlight of which was playing to an audience of 4000 in a stadium in Sao Paolo.
Angelina’s Travels led her back home to Cornwall where she took a performance job at The Eden Project.
Angelina spent 2 years working at Eden where she met Ollie. Together they left in 2004 to start their own company and so, with innocence lost and the Garden of Eden behind them Rogue Theatre was forged in the fires of spectacle, entertainment and pathos.
Rogue Theatre grew quickly as a company and created a great many challenges and opportunities for Angelina. Her role evolving and developing with each new project and developing a strong skill base.
Within Rogue Theatre Angelina has:
Directed Shows, Developed the company, Produced and managed tours, Produced the Twenty Five Project, Managed Young People’s Projects, Worked as a lead artist on schools and education projects, Developed a production base, designed shows, Created, Directed and Produced Cabaret Shows, Worked as a creative consultant, worked as a stage manager, Driven for The Globe Theatre’s European Tour.
Angelina’s love of danger and her policy to put blood, sweat and glitter into all her work has given Rogue it’s defining brand and strong visual identity.
Ollie Oakenshield – Company Director, Designer and Rogue Projects Manager.
Ollie is a founder member and Company Director of Rogue Theatre. He has wanted to work in theatre for as long as he can remember and is drawn to the life of a showman. Theatre for Ollie is an immediate and exciting form of entertainment which engages people in a way that no other form of entertainment can quite achieve. His passion is in creating work and a company capable of developing projects and shows which are grounded, entertaining and exciting for all involved and simultaneously moving, immersive and beneficial (on a range of levels). Using music, spectacle and strong visuals Ollie believes that theatre can engage a wide audience and through powerful narrative, strong storytelling and quality immersive experience can stir an energy in people which is positive and vibrant.
He loves working with Angelina and her immediate and anarchic approach and is excited by the potential of Rogue Theatre company as a creative cultural organisation.
Ollie’s background is in outdoor performance and loves the history and ritualistic nature of theatre.
