DEVIL’S GALLERY
Rogue Theatre presents the one off outdoor spectacular –
‘Welcome to the Lounge Limbo…you are neither here nor there…happy hour is between midnight and midnight…our hostesses will see to your every need…so…relax…take a seat…and let the show begin.”
Set in a secret bar, a nightclub hidden in the forest, The Dancer and The Devil presents the story of those displaced by war, those who have had to hide, to run away from their past lives with hastily packed cases bursting with secrets and stories.
Bright, sparkling and full of comic mischief The Dancer and The Devil in The Woods invites you to lose yourself in a world of entertainment, the smell of wood smoke and perfume, the taste of danger, and the wild thrill of the forest.
Meet Cupcakes our Murderous Master Baker, Minue who will be whoever you want her to be, Ruby the jewel that fell from the crown, Celeste who will dance the maps of your heart, Jacob; Mysterious Master of Ceremony and Laverna who will get the fire blazing.
Originally developed at BAC, The Lowry and Prema, The Dancer and The Devil is a theatre show, a blend of showmanship and poetry mixing spectacle, narrative and dance with enthralling live music and a wild spirit.
Funded by FEAST; The Dancer and The Devil in The Woods invites you to journey through the trees and immerse yourself in the story before the play unfolds on a stage at the heart of the woods.
The woodland journey has been created by Rogue Theatre and a team of Cornish artists, offering a thrilling, visual and atmospheric path to The Lounge Limbo.
With writing and text written for The Dancer and The Devil by Anna Maria Murphy (Kneehigh Theatre; Red Shoes, Trystan and Yseult, National Theatre and BBC Radio 4), and resplendent live music by Julian Gaskell (Julian Gaskell and the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists).
Directed by Angelina Boscarelli (Madame Lucinda’s Wonder Show, Pathway to the Red Sun and The Family).
Refreshments and toilets are available. Feel free to bring your own refreshments, blankets and seating etc.

Brilliantly written by Anna Maria Murphy, this darkly delicious tale is filled with unexpected twists and turns, shifting seamlessly from poignant and heartbreaking to hilariously funny. Sheila Vanloo, St Austell Bay Radio
The show grips your soul. It is a never-ending spectacle of showmanship -garish, glittering, imaginative, surprising and, at the end, devastating. The Dancer and The Devil‘s haunting atmosphere and the disciplines which bring it together are, in my opinion, art personified. Wonderful! Julia Taylor - What’s On Stage. 4 star review.
